Faith is not a new word in the Christian vocabulary but it is one of those words that is hard to live or fulfill in the walk of a Christian. John MacArthur said that, “Although faith is inseparable from risk, it is ironic that Christians generally dislike anything that is risky. But in our lesson this Sunday we will feel the faith of a nobleman that came to Jesus with a request. In our story “the Father of a Dying Son,” we see a father that put his faith in the word and power of Jesus Christ to heal his son. His faith was what healed his son as he approached and asked Jesus to heal his son,” Jesus replied, ‘You may go. Your son will live.’ The man took Jesus at his word and departed” John 4:50.
For many faith seems to be like the winds of the forest when the wind is high threatening to blow over the trees faith abounds in each one of us, but when the winds or gentle and life is good faith is low for there are no threats to overcome. Our faith is our root to excel in moving out of our comfort zone and challenge the ways of the world. Without our faith we would be weak and defenseless against Satan and his adversaries, remain strong in your faith and listen to the words of the Apostle James 2:14, “What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? This also is my question to you.
Friday Evening we had Movie night and watched the movie, “Courageous” it was truly inspiring and one that all Dads should watch. The kids had a great time with “Cars 2” and ate an astronomical amount of popcorn as usual.
Saturday morning DFIC hosted a Pastors Prayer and Vision breakfast with 6 churches in attendance and feasted upon an awesome breakfast put together by DFIC’s chef Joshua Lambert. We will be hosting another one in March for the Pastors to follow-up on future plans for the vision of Daegu, “Focus on Jesus.”
This year as we at DFIC ‘Focus on Jesus I would like to see DFIC the “Come and See Church’ truly reflect the image of Christ internally and externally in all our actions, words, and deeds. “Disappoint the Devil” and to “Glorify God while doing it”.
James 5:16 “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”

This Sunday the 8th will be our church’s 7th Anniversary and Rededication day. It has been a long journey but the journey has been worth every moment of it. We have had members come and go and return again to their family at DFIC. On New Year’s day we committed to make this year the year of “Focus on Jesus” following the teaching of the Hebrew author relating to Hebrews 12:2, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
As we noted last week we will do this through energizing our zeal for a stronger spiritual maturity, promoting a stronger prayer life, Bible Studies that inspire and motivate spiritual enrichment, a stronger role in reaching out to the community and those around us evangelizing at every given opportunity, and fully committing ourselves to service to the Lord and the church.
This Sunday we will be taking a trip down memory lane as we review DFIC from 2005 to the Present. We are hoping to have previous members join us that have moved to other parts of South Korea due to jobs and other reasons. Join us this Sunday as we prepare by hearing God’s Word and how it will affect your life.
This year as we at DFIC ‘Focus on Jesus" I would like to see DFIC the “Come and See Church’ truly reflect the image of Christ internally and externally in all our actions, words, and deeds. “Disappoint the Devil” and to “Glorify God while doing it”.
Hebrews 12:1, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us..”

This week has been a week of blessings and concerns for the Pastor. Somanim and Jeondosanim left Tuesday to go to Turkey and Greece on a 10 day pilgrimage with a group from Yeungnam University. This Friday morning I was notified that our company won our contract again for 5 more years, so I can confirm that the Lord wants me here for five more years at DFIC. Not that I am complaining as I have a loving and caring family at DFIC and I thank the Lord every day for them.
This Friday evening we had our first Family Movie night at the church and it turned out quite well. The kids watched Kung Fu Panda 2 and ate a tremendous amount of popcorn and candy along with their fruit drinks. The adults were engrossed with the movie “The Grace Card” and at the end there were a few wet eyes as it was an awesome movie on grace and life. Next Movie night we will be watching another awesome movie along with having a potluck at 6:00 with the movie starting at 7:15.
This Sunday we will join Jesus and the Samaritan women at the well as we start our series on “Conversing with Jesus” with this being the first one dealing with a guilty past. The story of Jesus and the woman at the well is very familiar. As I have studied it this week, I have been struck by how simple and profound it is. A man meets a woman in a seemingly chance encounter. In a few brief moments her life is changed forever. There are lessons here about racial prejudice, religious hatred, and dealing with moral outcasts. This story also conveys valuable truth about how to do evangelism. I would note that this is the longest recorded conversation anyone ever had with Jesus. It is longer than any recorded conversation with any of his disciples. It is going to be an awesome sermon so come and join us this Sunday for as Paul Harvey says, “The rest of the story.”
We will also continue with our 7th year anniversary celebration by viewing an awesome PowerPoint presentation of DFIC from 2005 to 2011.Join us this Sunday as we prepare by hearing God’s Word and how it will affect your life.
This year as we at DFIC ‘Focus on Jesus I would like to see DFIC the “Come and See Church’ truly reflect the image of Christ internally and externally in all our actions, words, and deeds. “Disappoint the Devil” and to “Glorify God while doing it”.
2 Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Welcome to DFIC’s website and the year of 2012. This year at DFIC I want our focus to be on Jesus Christ. This is to say that I want to see the transformation of each one at DFIC as they grew with their personal relationship with Jesus. So many times we lose focus because we allow our goals to become too broad and through the many concepts, ideas or excuses lose that focus we are seeking.
So this year I want us to focus on our relationship with Jesus using the basics that we have been given to follow to guide us in that relationship. We will concentrate on our spiritual maturity with the intervention of the Holy Spirits guidance; revitalize the spiritual disciplines within the church.
Bound our relationship with the Lord through our prayer life by developing prayer disciplines and more involvement in the prayer induced activities such as Men and Women prayer groups, Sunday morning prayer time, Friday evening prayer meeting and through other means as the Spirit guides us.
Bible Studies bringing the Word of God alive within our lives through studying the Word more frequently, and more deeply. Through the provision of courses for beginners, advanced and for those that are truly in love with the Word.
Evangelism becoming more involved in the community and our outreach programs with the orphanage, hospital, community, overseas missions and other churches within the community.
Commitment the final one encompasses all the others this means a covenant with the Lord and you in the areas of servitude, stewardship, leadership, youth and children ministry involvement, and the list is limitless as should be your commitment to the Lord. Join us this Sunday as we prepare by hearing God’s Word on commitment and how it should affect your life.
This year I would like to see DFIC the “Come and See Church’ truly reflect the image of Christ internally and externally in all our actions, words, and deeds. “Disappoint the Devil” and to “Glorify God while doing it”.
